I’m the Only Certified Musician in the Okoye Family – Peter Okoye claims

Nigerian singer Peter Okoye, popularly known as Mr P and one half of the now-defunct P-Square duo, has declared himself the only certified musician in his family, despite his twin brother and former bandmate, Paul Okoye, also being a performer.

Speaking during a performance at the recent AY Live event, Mr P addressed long-standing criticisms and fan comparisons that, according to him, contributed to the group’s split. He said fans who labeled him “talentless” while hailing Paul as the more talented twin created division within the duo.

“I’ve sung, danced, and played instruments, yet they called me talentless,” he said. “The reason P-Square split was because people started saying one twin was better than the other. It got into his [Paul’s] head, and he started misbehaving.”

Mr P revealed that he is the only member of the Okoye family with formal training in music. “I’m the only one in the family with a music certificate. I studied music. But they lied to you,” he told the audience.

To back his claims, he demonstrated his musical skills by singing, dancing, and playing both the piano and guitar on stage. “I’ve done all of this—tell me, is it easy?” he asked.

While Mr P didn’t name anyone directly, he hinted that he knows those who spread false narratives about his abilities. “I know the liars, but let’s leave it,” he added.
