Jim Iyke Explains Why He Struggles to Make Friends
Nollywood actor Jim Iyke has shared his reasons for struggling with making friends, stating that he can’t befriend people who hold grudges. Speaking on the ‘Deep Dive’ podcast with comedian Teju Babyface, Iyke explained that his rapid personal growth is challenging for many to keep up with.
“We don’t hang around emotions. We don’t have time for it. That’s why I can’t be friends with everybody,” he said. “I need someone who isn’t hung up on my last act. My growth rate is so fast that you can’t keep up. Who I was yesterday is different from who I am today. Not everyone can handle that. I need a friend I won’t call for 10 weeks, and he won’t be upset.”
He continued, “There was a time I didn’t call a friend for four months, and he didn’t call me either. We don’t have to, but when we do, it’s meaningful. I don’t want a friend who needs me in their life every day. It’s never going to work because I won’t show up for your kid’s birthday or be there for your anniversary. But if you need me and I sense it, I’ll move mountains. So you decide the kind of friends you want.”
