Klint Da Drunk Reveals Why He Transitioned from a Music Career to Comedy
Popular comedian Klint Da Drunk has opened up about why he shifted from music to comedy.
In a recent interview with Naija FM Lagos, Klint revealed that he initially pursued a music career while studying at the Institute of Management Technology (IMT), Enugu. However, after watching fellow student and music sensation 2Face perform at a campus event, he realized music wasn’t for him. He explained that he has no regrets about leaving music, emphasizing that he’s content with his path in comedy.
He recounted, “I used to be a musician until 2Face got admitted to my school, IMT. One day, when he performed at a campus event, I left the hall. The organisers asked me to stay back and perform after him. I agreed, but after hearing just two lines, I went home. I didn’t realize our styles were so different. If I had known, I might have continued with music. But thank God I didn’t—I like where I am now.”
Before turning to comedy, Klint Da Drunk was featured in the popular Nigerian hip-hop song Obodo by rapper Mr Raw. He also co-founded a music group with Mr Raw, which finished second in the 2002 Star Quest talent show, losing to KC Presh.
Since establishing himself in comedy, Klint has appeared in over a dozen Nollywood films, including Men On The Run, Madam 10/10, Fast Cash, and Lost Kingdom.
