Nigerian music star Olamide Baddo, 36, has revealed that his colleague Wizkid, 35, holds seniority over him in the music industry.

Both artists rose to prominence in 2010 — Wizkid with the release of his breakout hit Holla at Your Boy in January, and Olamide capturing attention later that year with Eni Duro. The pair were also nominated for the Next Rated category at the 2011 Headies Awards, a category ultimately won by Wizkid.

Because they emerged around the same period, many fans have long believed that Olamide and Wizkid are industry peers. However, during a recent interview with streamer Azeeez, Olamide clarified that Wizkid actually began releasing music earlier.

“Wizkid and I didn’t start doing music at the same time. He started a year or two before me; he was already putting out music before I came,” Olamide explained.

Wizkid had been featured as far back as 2008 on M.I’s hit track Fast Money, Fast Cars, nearly two years before he achieved mainstream fame.
