Nollywood actress and media personality Toke Makinwa has advised mothers with newborns to avoid bathing their babies every day, warning that frequent bathing could harm delicate infant skin.

In a video shared on her social media platforms, the actress, who recently welcomed her first child at age 40, emphasized that babies are naturally clean, noting that the womb they come from is not dirty.

“I don’t bathe my baby every day because it is not necessary. Babies are not on the floor; they are not dirty or sweaty. So, why excessively put water on their skin? Their skin is fragile. You can wipe them instead of bathing them daily. This helped me, so I’m just putting it out there,” Makinwa said.

The media personality encouraged nursing mothers to adopt wiping as an alternative to daily baths, highlighting that this practice can help maintain the baby’s skin health.

Her advice has sparked mixed reactions online, with some questioning her expertise in childcare and whether her personal experience qualifies as professional guidance.
