The Nigerian Official Selection Committee (NOSC) has announced that it will not be submitting any Nigerian film for consideration in the International Feature Film category at the 2026 Academy Awards.

In a statement on Monday, NOSC chairperson Stephanie Linus revealed that the committee opened a call for entries in August, receiving six films for evaluation.

However, following a meeting over the weekend, the committee voted by majority to make “No Submission,” effectively ending the selection process for this year.

“While Nigerian films have undoubtedly shown significant improvement and a growing awareness of International Feature Film standards, there remains a gap in creative and technical intentionality needed to enhance their competitiveness on the global stage,” Linus explained.
