Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State faced significant backlash from #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria protesters at the Port Harcourt Government House on Thursday after offering money for pure water.

Fubara’s attempt to placate the demonstrators with a financial gesture and a call for patience only intensified their frustration.

Addressing the crowd, Fubara expressed his sympathy and promised to relay their concerns to the President, saying, “I thank you for your peaceful protest. I feel your pain and will deliver your message to the President. We will do everything possible to improve conditions in Rivers State, but we need your support for the Federal Government. I understand there is hunger, but please be patient.”

He then offered a small sum for pure water, which provoked an angry response from the protesters. They chanted, “No, no! Keep your money, we want good governance in Nigeria. Tinubu must go.”

Despite Fubara’s attempts to explain his intentions and calm the crowd, his efforts were unsuccessful. The protesters remained resolute, and the governor eventually left the scene.
