Abia Police Rescue Three Kidnap Victims, Recover N2 Million Ransom and Other Items

The Abia State Police Command has announced the successful rescue of three kidnapped victims and the recovery of ₦2 million in ransom money, along with other key exhibits linked to the crime.

According to a statement issued by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Maureen Chinaka, the victims—Onyedikachi Peter Onyegesi from Akpou in Isuochi, Abia State; Ifeanyi Nnabuife; and Amarachi Nwaebubu, both from Anambra State—were rescued during a coordinated operation by the Command’s Intelligence Response Unit and tactical teams.

The rescue took place on July 12, 2025, at approximately 5:30 p.m., following a reported kidnapping incident at Afojide Market, Isuochi.

“In the course of the operation, a red Lexus 350 Jeep, ₦2 million in cash believed to be part of the ransom, three mobile phones, and two leg chain shackles were recovered,” DSP Chinaka stated.

She also confirmed that several suspects involved in the kidnapping have been arrested and are currently undergoing interrogation.

The police assured the public of their continued commitment to combating criminal activities and urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to security agencies.
