Benue Monarch Condemns Church Burning, Calls on Security Agencies to Act
His Royal Highness Tor Sankera, David Sevav, has urged the Federal and Benue State Governments to bring to justice those responsible for the recent attack on St. Paul’s Parish, Aye-Twar, which was set ablaze by suspected Fulani militia.
During a solidarity visit to the Catholic Bishop of Katsina-Ala Diocese, Most Rev. Isaac Dugu, the monarch condemned the attack as a desecration of a sacred space and a serious affront to humanity. He stressed that the incident tests the leadership and security agencies’ ability to protect citizens regardless of religion.
Tor Sankera also praised Bishop Dugu for his peacebuilding efforts, including outreach to bandits, and called on the Benue State Government to rebuild the parish and strengthen security so displaced residents can return safely.
