Boko Haram Attack in Borno Claims Nine Lives, Injures Four
At least nine people have been killed and four others injured following an attack by Boko Haram terrorists on Malam Fatori, a community in Abadam Local Government Area of Borno State.
The tragic incident was confirmed in a statement released by the Borno State Government on Saturday.
Governor Babagana Umara Zulum, who is currently out of the country on official duty, sent a delegation led by the Commissioner for Local Government and Emirate Affairs, Sugun Mele, to sympathize with the affected families and deliver cash support on his behalf.
“We are here on behalf of His Excellency, Governor Babagana Zulum, to condole with the people of Malam Fatori over this unfortunate incident,” Mele stated. “The governor has assured that the state government, in collaboration with the military, will do everything possible to strengthen security in the area.”
Governor Zulum reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to stabilizing Malam Fatori, describing the town as a strategically vital location. He called on residents to remain resilient and prayerful in the face of ongoing security challenges.
In a bid to further protect the town, the state government has approved the deployment of excavators to dig defensive trenches around the local government headquarters. The move is part of broader efforts to prevent future incursions by Boko Haram and ISWAP elements.
The governor also commended the Nigerian military for their ongoing efforts and gallantry in the region.
