Gunmen killed two vigilante members guarding the Isiala-Mbano Local Government Area headquarters in Imo State on Tuesday night.

NIGERIA NEWS 247 reported that the attackers also set vehicles parked at the council headquarters on fire. According to eyewitnesses, the gunmen arrived at the secretariat around 8:30 p.m., opened fire, killing two vigilante members, and set part of the council building ablaze.

Another witness said, “Two security personnel at the Isiala-Mbano council headquarters were killed, and a significant portion of the building, along with several vehicles, was set on fire. Many people fled with injuries.”

The attack has caused panic in Umuelemai, the LG headquarters, prompting residents to flee to nearby villages.

In response, state police spokesperson Henry Okoye confirmed that tactical teams had been deployed to track down the attackers.
