Niger State Police Rescue 35 Kidnapped Victims, Including Women and Children
The Niger State Police Command has successfully rescued 35 kidnapped victims, including women and children, who were being transported by suspected bandits to Kebbi State.
SP Wasiu Abiodun, the Police Public Relations Officer, revealed that the victims were intercepted between July 3 and 5, 2025, along the Madaka–Makujeri road. A vehicle driven by Yusuf Abdullahi of Birnin Gwari, carrying 24 victims from various parts of Niger State such as Pandogari, Madaka, Allawa, Sarkin-Pawa, and other areas including Taraba, was stopped. Abdullahi was arrested, and the victims received medical attention.
Additionally, on July 4, police intercepted a group of five women and six children at Agwara as they tried to cross a river into Yauri. The victims were taken into custody by the Divisional Police Officer of Agwara. Security operatives recovered two magazines and 60 rounds of live ammunition during the operation.
Investigations are ongoing as efforts continue to rescue more victims and apprehend more suspects linked to the kidnappings.
The Niger State Commissioner of Police, CP Adamu Abdullahi Elleman, praised the joint security teams for their effective action and encouraged the public to provide useful information to assist in further rescue efforts.
