Bandits Attack Kwara Community, Kill Worshippers

A detailed account has emerged of Tuesday’s deadly attack by bandits on Eruku community in Kwara State.

According to reports, the incident occurred around 6:05 pm at the First C.A.C Church in Oke Ado Area, Eruku town, located in the Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara South Senatorial District.

Security sources revealed that worshippers were gathered for a special programme when the bandits struck. At least three people were killed, including individuals identified as Asaba and Deremi, while the third victim remains unnamed. Around 30 residents, including children and the elderly, were reportedly abducted and taken into nearby forests. Several others sustained gunshot injuries and have been rushed to Egbe General Hospital in Kogi State for treatment.

The attack is part of a series of violent incidents in and around Eruku town, which borders Kogi State. However, last Tuesday’s assault marked a new level of violence, causing widespread panic among residents.

Local residents have called for urgent intervention, as security agencies continue search-and-rescue operations to recover those held by the bandits.

The Kwara State Police Command, through spokesperson SP Adetoun Ejire Adeyemi, confirmed the attack and pledged to provide updates as investigations progress.
