Two soldiers were tragically killed by unknown gunmen while enforcing the sit-at-home order on Thursday. The attack occurred at Obikabia junction in Aba, Abia State, where over 15 masked assailants ambushed the military men, also setting their patrol van ablaze.

A viral video depicts the assailants firing indiscriminately before igniting the military vehicle. A surviving soldier, seen in the footage, laments the loss of his comrades.

The attackers, equipped with an SUV jeep and a Sienna, remain unidentified. Neither the Abia State Police Command nor the Military has issued statements regarding the incident.

This attack coincides with the ongoing lockdown in the South-East, prompted by Biafra agitators’ sit-at-home declaration in remembrance of Civil War casualties. Across the region, residents largely remain indoors, apprehensive of potential attacks by non-state actors.
