Canoe accident claims seven lives in Sokoto

A tragic canoe accident claimed the lives of seven people on Monday in Sokoto State. The victims were traveling from Gidan Hussaini to Sabon Garin Hussaini when their canoe capsized around 11:00 a.m.

Security analyst Zagazola Makama shared the news on Tuesday via social media. All seven passengers, including the paddler, drowned in the incident.

Security operatives quickly responded, restricting access to the riverside to manage the crowd and prevent congestion, especially among grieving family members.

A local rescue team recovered the bodies and handed them over to the families for burial.
