A prolonged downpour on Sunday lasting over an hour and 20 minutes wreaked havoc in Sango-Ota under bridge and Oju-Ore area of Ogun State, damaging numerous vehicles, electrical poles, and wires.

Mrs. Busolami Tunwase, the lead for media relations at Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC), confirmed the incident to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ota, Ogun State.

The heavy rainfall, starting around 11:30 a.m., caused significant destruction to poles and wires in the Sango-Ota-Oju-Ore area and its vicinity.

IBEDC reported that while there were no casualties, properties, valued at over N100 million, including vehicles, suffered damage due to the intense rain.

Tunwase stated that IBEDC was aware of the situation and had dispatched its technical team to the affected area.

“We urge the public to avoid contact with any electrical poles, wires, or installations until our team can clear the area,” Tunwase emphasized. (NAN)
