Emir Sanusi’s Palace in Kano Hit by Fire

The Chief of Staff to the 16th Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi, Munir Sanusi Bayero, Dan Buram Kano, announced on Saturday that a fire had ravaged the Emir’s palace at Gidan Rumfa where he currently resides.

In a statement, Bayero disclosed that the fire incident occurred in the outer court of His Highness’s Palace, Kofar Kudu, late Friday night around 11 pm. Fortunately, there were no casualties, and the damage was minimal.

The statement assured that all necessary measures are being taken to ensure the safety and security of the palace and its occupants. Additionally, investigations into the cause of the fire are underway, and steps are being taken to prevent such incidents in the future.

Bayero noted, “The incident occurred at the palace in Kofar Kudu. The palace has an internal entrance and a main entrance from the front. It appears that intruders forced their way in, started the fire, and locked the door.”

However, the Public Relations Officer of the Kano State Fire Service, Saminu Yusif Abdullahi, stated that their command had not been alerted to the incident, as no reports had been received at any of their centers regarding the fire.
