Officers from the Kaduna State Police Command have blocked the roadway leading to the Government House in the state capital in response to a violent #EndBadGovernance protest that occurred on Thursday.

A joint force of security personnel, which includes police, civil defense, and members of the state vigilance service, has set up barriers along this route to deter troublemakers from entering the area and nearby neighborhoods.

Police officials have called on parents and guardians to prevent their children from engaging in activities that disrupt public order during protests, emphasizing the seriousness of such behavior.

In a statement released on Friday, police spokesperson Mansir Hassan encouraged groups planning to protest to coordinate with the Commissioner of Police to facilitate a peaceful demonstration.

Hassan remarked that the demonstration was taken over by troublemakers who tried to breach the Government House, resulting in injuries to two police officers and damage to a police armored vehicle.

As the protest extended into its second day on Friday, major thoroughfares, including the typically busy Ahmadu Bello Way in the Central Business District, remained largely empty, with significantly decreased traffic from both vehicles and pedestrians.

Many residents chose to remain indoors out of fear of potential unrest, while public transport services operated at a limited capacity.

Numerous shops and businesses along Junction Road and Ahmadu Bello Way shut down as vendors opted not to attend the market.

Our correspondent observed an increased presence of security forces positioned at key hotspots throughout the state, particularly in city centers like Stadium Roundabout, Katsina Road Roundabout, and NEPA Roundabout—where the protest began peacefully on Thursday before escalating into violence.

According to NIGERIA NEWS 247, more than 25,000 security personnel from police and military units were deployed to critical areas and hotspots to ensure safety and protect both citizens and demonstrators protesting against poor governance in the nation.
