Governor Agbu Kefas of Taraba State has once again given approval for the appointment of an additional 573 political aides. The announcement came in a statement issued early Tuesday morning to journalists in the state, signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Barrister Gebon Timothy Kataps.

With this latest round of appointments, excluding commissioners, the state now boasts a total of 707 special aides. Similar to the earlier 134 appointees who have yet to be assigned specific roles, the new appointees will serve in capacities such as Special Assistants, Senior Special Assistants, Special Advisers, and Community Special Assistants.

While the governor’s office cites these appointments as part of efforts to improve governance and service delivery, some residents remain critical of the move. A party chieftain, speaking anonymously, expressed disapproval, stating that amidst current economic challenges, such a large expansion of political aides may not contribute positively to the state’s development.
