On Wednesday, gunmen attacked a 50-year-old Okada rider, Sikiru Muritala, in Ibadan, Oyo State, attempting to steal his motorcycle and severing his hand in the process.

According to NIGERIANEWS247 investigations, the incident occurred around 9 pm at Saribi in the Akinyele Local Government Area. Despite their efforts, the assailants failed to take the bike.

Speaking from his hospital bed at the University College Hospital, Ibadan, on Thursday, Muritala recounted, “I am a trailer mechanic, but when things got tough, I started the Okada business. I usually pick passengers in that area. After dropping one off, they attacked me, trying to steal the bike. They spoke a language I didn’t understand. They couldn’t take the bike, but they chopped off my hand. They also took my phone and all my money. We’re incurring significant expenses at UCH. I need government and public assistance.”
