Gunmen Claim Three Lives in Ebonyi Village

In a tragic incident on Saturday evening, approximately four gunmen launched an attack on Akpoha community along the Afikpo/Amasiri road in Afikpo Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, resulting in the death of three individuals.

 

The victims were identified as Egwu Nicholas Nwocha, Emmanuel Nwocha, a member of the defunct Ebubeagu security outfit, and Inya Blessing Orieoma, a local trader.

Several others sustained injuries during the assault, according to reports.

Eyewitnesses reported that the gunmen, armed with AK-47 rifles, carried out the attack using two motorcycles.

Ebonyi State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Joshua Ukandu, confirmed the incident, stating that law enforcement operatives are actively pursuing the assailants.

“The bodies of the three deceased have been deposited at the morgue, and the situation is now under control. Our officers are in pursuit of the perpetrators,” he assured.
