The Kwara State Police Command has launched a comprehensive investigation into the tragic death of Abdulqoyyum Abdulyekeen Ishola, a student from the state polytechnic in Ilorin, who was allegedly killed by police last Wednesday.
Police Commissioner Victor Olaiya, in a statement issued on Sunday by the command’s spokesperson, DSP Ejire Adeyemi Toun, confirmed that both suspects and witnesses have been identified. He emphasized the command’s commitment to uncovering the truth and ensuring that those responsible are held accountable under the law.
“The police command is dedicated to thoroughly investigating this matter with the utmost care,” Commissioner Olaiya stated. “We understand the importance of providing clear answers to both the family and the community. Our commitment to transparency and integrity in this investigation is resolute, and we pledge to conduct it without compromise.”
The command extended its heartfelt condolences to Abdulqoyyum Abdulyekeen Ishola’s family during this difficult time. “We deeply sympathize with the family, friends, and all those affected by this unfortunate event that occurred on September 4, 2024. The loss of a loved one under such circumstances is a heavy burden, and our thoughts are with them as we pray for strength and comfort.”
