An unidentified man, believed to have attempted stealing electrical cables inside the powerhouse of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) at Lagos airport, suffered an electric shock.

FAAN Managing Director, Mrs. Olubunmi Kuku, disclosed this on Monday during the inauguration of a 30-man security team for the Lagos airport. She stated that the incident occurred when the man unlawfully entered a building housing FAAN power generators and was disconnecting installations supplying power to the airport.

Kuku emphasized that FAAN is committed to preventing unauthorized access to airports, noting past incidents where miscreants had breached perimeter fences and stolen airfield lighting equipment.

The newly inaugurated security unit represents a significant investment in airport security, covering personnel training, armory enhancements, and procurement of arms and ammunition. Addressing the new security team, Kuku highlighted the importance of close collaboration with other security agencies to maintain a safe and secure environment at the airport.

She also noted the commitment of President Bola Tinubu, the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development Mr. Festus Keyamo, and National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu to ensuring airport security.
