The Plateau State Government has dismissed reports alleging it failed to submit its 2024 audited financial statements within the required timeline.

A recent publication by the Foundation for Investigative Journalism (FIJ) had named Plateau among states that defaulted on the statutory deadline. However, in a statement issued on Wednesday, the state’s Accountant-General, Naanre Asabe Manset, clarified that the state met all legal requirements.

According to Manset, the financial statements were submitted to the Auditor-General in May 2025, audited, and forwarded to the State House of Assembly in June. They were approved by lawmakers and subsequently published online on July 30, 2025—well within the legally mandated nine-month period.

She questioned the basis of FIJ’s claims and urged the organization to update its report and remove Plateau State from the list of non-compliant states.

Reaffirming the government’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and timely reporting, Manset encouraged members of the public to access the fully audited financial statements online.
