Niger State Police Apprehend Three for Illegal Possession of Firearms and Thuggery
The Niger State Police Command has reported the arrest of three individuals suspected of engaging in thuggery and unlawfully possessing prohibited firearms.
Commissioner of Police Shawulu Dan-Mamman disclosed this to the News Agency of Nigeria in Minna on Wednesday.
According to Dan-Mamman, the suspects were apprehended in Maitumbi, Minna, during a raid conducted by the DPO of Maitumbi Division and vigilante members in response to a distress call at approximately 1:00 a.m. on April 30.
He stated that the suspects were found in possession of dangerous weapons and suspected Indian hemp.
“The suspects, known for their involvement in thuggery and using dangerous weapons to intimidate residents, were successfully apprehended during the operation,” Dan-Mamman stated.
The Commissioner further mentioned that the suspects have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further interrogation. Efforts are underway to capture other accomplices who remain at large.
Dan-Mamman also advised parents and guardians to closely monitor their children and discourage them from engaging in criminal activities that would lead to legal consequences.
