Two suspected kidnappers have led men of the Ogun State Police Command to a shallow grave where they buried their victims after collecting ransom.

The suspects, Chukwuma Bartholomew and Igwe Monday, were involved in the crime. Confirming the incident, Police Public Relations Officer Omolola Odutola said on Saturday that Commissioner of Police Abiodun Alamutu led the operation to Ijebu Igbo.

Odutola stated that the arrest of the two members of a seven-man gang followed a technical investigation by the anti-kidnapping squad, which discovered their hideout in Ijebu-Igbo at about 6:20 pm on June 28, 2024. “CP Alamutu Abiodun Mustapha led the operations to Ijebu Igbo in Ogun State, where victims’ corpses were exhumed from a shallow grave, and two suspects, Chukwuma Bartholomew and Igwe Monday, were arrested,” she said.

She confirmed that the suspects would be charged in court as soon as investigations were completed and that a manhunt for the gang’s other members was ongoing.
