Son Allegedly Murders 100-Year-Old Mother in Osun State Amid Palm Oil Sales Dispute
Police in Osun State have apprehended Lukman Adejoju, a 63-year-old resident of Kajola village, Apomu, Isokan local government area, for the alleged murder of his 100-year-old mother, Aminat.
The tragic incident, reportedly stemming from a dispute over palm oil sales, has caused shock and unrest in the community.
According to Osun State Police Command spokesperson, Yemisi Opalola, the altercation between Adejoju and his mother occurred while they were en route to the farm. Adejoju purportedly confessed to pushing his mother during the argument, resulting in her fatal fall.
Opalola confirmed Adejoju’s arrest and stated that he has been transferred to the command’s headquarters in Osogbo for further investigation.
She revealed that tension gripped the community following the incident, prompting intervention from both police and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) personnel to restore calm.
NSCDC spokesperson Kehinde Adeleke confirmed the suspect’s arrest, adding that he was taken to a police station in Apomu. Thankfully, peace has since been restored to the affected village.
