The Niger State Police Command has apprehended two suspects in Minna, the state capital, on charges of conspiracy and vehicle theft. The arrests were made when they were reportedly caught in the act of attempting to sell a vehicle for N6.5 million.

The suspects have been identified as Waza Bulus, 41, from Zango-Kataf in Kaduna State, and Yahaya Amodu, 45, from Kwakuti in Niger State.

According to SP Wasiu Abiodun, the Public Relations Officer of the Niger State Police Command, the arrests were conducted on June 14, 2024, by operatives attached to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Minna. The suspects were apprehended at Sauka-Kahuta area of Minna while in possession of a white Toyota Corolla with registration number ABC 72 NF, suspected to have been stolen.

During interrogation, Bulus explained that he had met an individual named Daniel in Area 3, Abuja, and they discovered they were both from Kaduna. Daniel introduced Bulus to another suspect named Abdul, who claimed to have a vehicle they could sell. Abdul provided Bulus with an imitated vehicle key on May 31 and instructed him to pick up the vehicle parked near Central Mosque in Abuja during Juma’at prayers. Bulus took the vehicle and brought it to Kwakuti, Niger State, where he met Yahaya, a vehicle dealer he had connected with on social media. Due to delays in selling the vehicle, Bulus returned to Yahaya on June 14, and they decided to transport the vehicle to Minna for quicker disposal.
