Yobe State House of Assembly Receives Petitions Alleging Misconduct by Local Government Officials
The Yobe State House of Assembly recently received two petitions addressing critical issues within local governance. The first petition, presented by Hon. Nasiru Hassan Yusuf, the House Leader, concerns the Vice-Chairman of Karasuwa Local Government Council, Khalid Abba Umara. The petition, signed by the Director Personnel Management of the Council, Gaji Mohammed, alleges serious misconduct and insubordination towards the executive chairman of the council by Umara.
Simultaneously, another petition was lodged against Lawan Ado, the village head of Sabon Garin Mai Mala in Gujba local government area. This petition accuses Ado of unlawfully revoking and selling farm lands.
Presiding over the session, the Speaker of the House, Rt Hon Chiroma Buba Mashio, referred both petitions to the House Committee on Security and Petitions for thorough investigation. The Speaker emphasized the urgency of the matter by directing the committee to provide a detailed report within one week.
