2018 Offa Robbery: Families of Victims Urge Public to Ignore Blackmail Against Saraki

Families of those killed in the tragic Offa bank robbery have urged Nigerians to ignore attempts to link former Senate President Abubakar Bukola Saraki to the 2018 incident, describing such claims as politicisation of their loss.

Speaking on Radio TNT in Offa, representatives Abdul Oseni Aditu Eniolohunpa, Mulikat Jimoh, and Danjuma Comfort—who each lost loved ones in the attack—called for an end to political exploitation of their grief. They stressed that their family members were victims of a criminal act, not political pawns.

The April 5, 2018 robbery, which left 33 people dead, including civilians and security officers, remains a painful chapter for the families. They revealed they had been approached by parties encouraging them to implicate Dr. Saraki, but firmly rejected these overtures.

Expressing disappointment over the lack of government support since the tragedy, the families emphasized their focus on justice and healing, urging Nigerians to work towards preventing such violence rather than deepening political divides.

“Our loved ones would not have wanted their deaths to be used as tools for political manipulation,” they said.
