2025 NADPA-RADPA Conference: NDPC Announces LOC with NCC and Others
The Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC) has emphasized the need to promote the country’s positive image. The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) was named as one of the members of the organizing committee.
During the inauguration of the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) for the upcoming Network of African Data Protection Authorities (NADPA-RADPA) Conference and Annual General Meeting, scheduled for May 2025 in Abuja, NDPC Commissioner and Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Vincent Olatunji, stressed the importance of this initiative.
Olatunji highlighted the significance of the event, calling it the largest gathering in Africa’s data protection and privacy ecosystem. He noted that the conference is a national event, not just for the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy (FMCIDE) or NDPC, and praised the selection of committee members from various sectors.
The LOC includes representatives from FMCIDE, NCC, NIPOST, NIGCOMSAT, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, World Bank (ID4D Project office), Digital Transformation Center, European Union, Meta, Google, AWS, Microsoft, Management Edge, ISACA, MasterCard, Kenya’s Office of Data Protection Commissioner, and the media, among others.
Dr. Olatunji urged collaboration among committee members to ensure the conference’s success, aiming to highlight Nigeria as a peaceful, safe, and welcoming investment destination.
He noted that hosting the NADPA-RADPA conference underscores Nigeria’s growing influence in data protection and privacy, stating that despite starting later than others in the field, the country has made significant progress on the global stage.
The NADPA-RADPA, established in Ouagadougou in 2016, consists of 23 Data Protection Authorities across Africa and serves as a platform for cooperation and amplifying Africa’s voice in global data protection partnerships.
