Air Peace CEO Urges Nigerians to Embrace Nationalism over Ethnicity
The Chief Executive Officer of Air Peace Limited, Allen Onyema, delivered a compelling message urging Nigerians to prioritize nationalism over ethnic and religious divisions for the country’s advancement. Speaking at a lecture titled “Leading by Example: Instilling Trust and Confidence in Subordinates” for Senior Course 46 participants at the Armed Forces Command and Staff College, Jaji, Onyema emphasized the need to appreciate and support the sacrifices made by the military in maintaining national unity.
“We have to thank the military and appreciate the sacrifices they have made in keeping the country one,” Onyema remarked. “The citizens have to appreciate their sacrifices and support the Armed Forces of Nigeria, especially at this trying time. We believe in our military, we see the military that is fighting for us to keep our country safe.”
Highlighting Nigeria’s strength in diversity with its 378 ethnic nationalities, Onyema asserted, “Nigeria is a great country, nobody should kid you. Yes, the outside world may stigmatize us, we shouldn’t allow ourselves to be stigmatized as a nation.” He urged Nigerians to refrain from ethnic and religious stigmatization, emphasizing that unity in diversity is Nigeria’s strength.
“If Nigerians can achieve serious unity in the nation’s diversity, the rest is history,” Onyema added optimistically. “Nigeria is the envy of the entire world, forget whatever anybody tells you, we have human and natural resources, and the human capital in Nigeria is unbelievable.”
He also praised the true nationalism displayed by the military, encouraging all Nigerians to emulate this spirit. In closing, Onyema’s message resonated with the audience, underscoring the importance of unity and collective effort towards building a stronger nation.
Commandant of AFCSC, AVM Hassan Alhaji, expressed gratitude to Onyema for sharing his insights with the college students, highlighting the lecture’s relevance in showcasing life after military service and reinforcing the mission to protect and elevate Nigeria.
