Victory Maduneme, a cabin crew member with Air Peace, has issued a 72-hour ultimatum to the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) to retract an allegation linking her to drug use, or face legal action.

Speaking during an interview on Arise Television on Friday, Maduneme expressed deep shock over what she described as a false and damaging allegation. She revealed that she was handed a test result indicating the presence of marijuana in her system—a result she strongly disputes.

“I was shocked when I received a test result claiming I had marijuana in my system,” she said. “I was told marijuana stays in the body for up to 90 days, yet a follow-up test came back negative.”

Maduneme suggested the situation could be part of a broader smear campaign against Air Peace, and urged the NSIB to avoid targeting innocent individuals. She credited the airline’s chairman for standing by her, saying she could have easily lost her job and career over the accusation.

“If not for the kindness of my chairman, I would have been sacked and blacklisted. Once that happens, no airline in the world would hire me. They’ve painted me as someone who uses drugs—and that is very damaging,” she said.

Calling the allegation defamatory, Maduneme warned that unless the NSIB publicly retracts the claim within 72 hours, she will pursue legal redress.

“This is a serious case of defamation of character, and if they don’t retract it within the next 72 hours, we will sue,” she stated.
