Air Peace, a Nigerian airline, received royal approval when Prince Harry and Meghan, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, chose to fly from Abuja to Lagos on May 12, 2024.
The airline expressed gratitude for the royal couple’s decision, highlighting it as a significant show of support for Nigerian airlines and demonstrating their dedication to strengthening connections with Nigeria and backing local businesses.
Accompanied by their entourage, Prince Harry and Meghan boarded an Air Peace charter flight, selecting one of the airline’s modern Embraer 195-E2 aircraft for their journey to Lagos after arriving in Abuja the day before.
At 9:00 am, as the Duke and Duchess arrived at the Presidential Wing of Murtala Muhammed Airport in Lagos, they were welcomed with grandeur and enthusiasm.
The reception committee was headed by esteemed military personnel and included Air Peace Chairman, Dr. Allen Onyema, as well as other notable government officials.
A lively presentation of Nigerian culture awaited them, with a dance troupe presenting traditional performances that infused a festive atmosphere into the event.
Their trip to Lagos was packed with activities that showcased their curiosity about different facets of Nigerian society and culture.
After completing their agenda in Lagos, the royal duo will fly back to Abuja with Air Peace. This visit to Lagos is part of the Duke and Duchess’s exclusive three-day exploration of Nigeria, which began on Friday, May 10, 2024.
Arriving in Nigeria on Friday, Prince Harry and Meghan, his wife, are there to support the Invictus Games initiative, which aims to assist injured and ill military personnel and veterans.
This includes Nigerian troops who have been involved in a 14-year conflict against Boko Haram extremists. During their visit, the royal couple has shown a strong commitment to connecting with local communities and strengthening international ties.
