On Wednesday, Organised Labour withdrew from the ongoing minimum wage negotiations with the Federal Government, citing dissatisfaction with the proposed offers. The FG proposed N48,000, while the Organized Private Sector (OPS) suggested N54,000, both of which were deemed “ridiculous” by labour representatives.

NIGERIA NEWS 24/7 learned that the FG failed to provide supporting data for its proposal, unlike Organised Labour, while OPS stated that none of its members pays less than N78,000.

Benson Upah, spokesperson for the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), confirmed the withdrawal to NIGERIA NEWS 24/7 via telephone, stating, “Yes, we are out. We are about to address the press, and you will get the details then.”
