Chairman of the Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures in Nigeria and Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin, has called on the National Assembly to expedite the ongoing constitution review process to ensure its timely completion.

Speaking during the 2025 National Assembly Open Week in Abuja, Ogundoyin stressed the critical importance of concluding the constitutional amendment process well ahead of the next general elections. His remarks were contained in a statement released on Wednesday and obtained by Nigeria News 247.

Ogundoyin emphasized that a timely and transparent review of the constitution is essential to strengthening Nigeria’s democratic institutions and aligning the nation’s legal framework with present-day realities.

“We respectfully urge the National Assembly to sustain the current momentum on the constitutional review process. Any loss of this momentum, however unintended, risks diminishing the impact and relevance of the reforms,” he stated.

He reaffirmed the Conference of Speakers’ commitment to partnering with the National Assembly to ensure that the reforms are inclusive, transparent, and reflective of the will of the Nigerian people.

“The Conference will continue to foster constructive synergy in pursuit of national development and uphold the sanctity of legislative authority at all levels,” Ogundoyin added.
