Crowds besiege MTN offices over barred phone lines

Crowds have besieged the offices of MTN Nigeria in some parts of the country over barred lines.

On Sunday, numerous Nigerians expressed their frustration on social media over their inability to make or receive calls on their MTN lines.

NIGERIA NEWZ 247 gathered that telecom providers initiated a widespread disconnection of phone lines that were not registered with national identification numbers (NINs) late Saturday.

Additionally, many 9mobile users have faced similar issues with calls since Saturday evening. This disruption occurs just before a nationwide protest scheduled for August 1.

On Monday, July 29, 2024, a group of MTN customers whose phone lines had been suspended gathered at the company’s office in Ibadan, Oyo State.

According to a witness speaking to NIGERIA NEWS 247, some individuals in the crowd turned aggressive and began throwing stones at the building.
