“Declare State of Emergency on Insecurity Now!” — Atiku tells Tinubu
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has called on President Bola Tinubu to urgently declare a state of emergency over Nigeria’s worsening security situation.
Atiku made the appeal on Friday in a statement shared on his Facebook page, responding to the recent abduction of students in Niger State.
NIGERIA NEWS 247 had earlier reported that terrorists attacked St. Mary Secondary School in Papiri, Agwara Local Government Area, abducting over 50 students and staff.
Reacting to the incident, Atiku questioned why the Tinubu-led federal government has not taken decisive action to address the country’s growing insecurity. The 2023 presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) described the attack as heartbreaking.
He wrote: “Not again. This is truly heartbreaking. How many more lives must be shattered before decisive action is taken? It is not too late for the government to finally declare a state of emergency on insecurity and confront this menace with the urgency it deserves.”
