“It has come to my attention that the police have arraigned those arrested in connection with the #EndBadGovernance protest in court on several charges, including treason.

My office needs to examine specific issues related to this matter to ensure I can make an informed decision.

I understand that the court has remanded the defendants in detention centers and adjourned the case until January.

While I do not have the authority to alter the court’s order regarding the defendants’ detention and the adjournment, I have instructed the Nigeria Police to transfer the case file to my office and deliver it to the Director of Public Prosecution of the Federation (DPPF) by tomorrow, Saturday, November 2, 2024.

Furthermore, I have directed the DPPF to initiate the process for the court to consider moving the adjournment date to an earlier time.”
