#EndBadGovernanceInNigeria: Protest only in Ijebu-Ode, says Ogun NSCDC Commandant
On Thursday, David Ojelabi, the Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps in Ogun State, stated that there have been no indications of protests occurring within the state.
He mentioned that a small group of approximately 20 individuals participated in a peaceful demonstration along Ibadan Road.
Ojelabi made these comments while speaking to reporters at the MKO Abiola International venue in Abeokuta, which has been designated for protest activities by the court.
He noted that his team had conducted rounds throughout Abeokuta and confirmed that the atmosphere is tranquil, with shops that were previously closed now resuming operations.
We have also received feedback from the other two senatorial districts, Ogun West and Ogun East, indicating that the situation is calm throughout the area, with the exception of Ijebu-Ode, where approximately 20 individuals are reportedly engaging in a peaceful protest.
We encourage everyone to continue their daily activities, as security forces are present to ensure safety and protection for all.
Additionally, Police Commissioner Abiodun Alamutu confirmed that the entire state remains tranquil. He added that protesters are permitted to hold their demonstrations in designated areas throughout the state.
Alamutu emphasized that there is a strong security presence and collaboration among agencies to maintain order, assuring citizens that there is no need for concern—everything is under control.
