FCT Minister Wike Slams ADC Leaders Over ‘Nigerians Are Angry’ Remarks
During his monthly media chat in Abuja, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, issued a stern warning to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) leaders—including Interim National Chairman David Mark, Interim Secretary Rauf Aregbesola, and former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi—over their claims that Nigerians are angry with President Bola Tinubu.
Wike accused the coalition leaders of hypocrisy, reminding them of their own records while in power:
-
He questioned David Mark’s legacy as Senate President for eight years, asking why Nigerians were not angry then.
-
He blamed Amaechi for pushing Nigeria into foreign debt during his tenure as Minister of Transportation.
-
Wike challenged the coalition to explain their past contributions, pointing out failures like the collapse of Air Nigeria under former Minister Hadi Sirika.
-
He condemned the use of Nigerians’ frustrations as a political tool, stating that the coalition’s members are responsible for many of the country’s current problems.
Wike concluded by stating that history will hold these leaders accountable for the state of Nigeria today, emphasizing that Nigerians were only “happy” when these figures were in power, but are now “angry” because they lost power.
