BREAKING: Fubara Vows to Set up a Judicial Panel to Probe Wike
Gov. Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has vowed to set up a judicial panel of inquiry to investigate how the affairs of governance were conducted…
Governor Siminalayi Fubara from Rivers State is determined to establish a judicial panel to scrutinize the governance practices in the State prior to his tenure.
During the swearing-in ceremony of Mr. Dagogo Israel Iboroma, SAN, as the new Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice at Government House in Port Harcourt on Monday, Fubara subtly alluded to the importance of having someone with courage and bravery to address the numerous legal issues at hand.
The governor emphasized the critical timing of bringing the Attorney-General on board for this purpose.
He announced, Congratulations, Dagogo Iboroma, my brother, on your appointment as the new Attorney-General of our beloved State.
SSG, please present him with his official letter confirming his role as the Attorney-General. We are entrusting you with this important position during a crucial period filled with challenges.
It is our hope that you will not misuse your authority by dismissing cases or taking actions that may harm us.
Allow me to express that you are facing a significant challenge. We are planning to establish a judicial panel of inquiry to examine governance matters.
Prepare yourself, as I am committed to this decision. Please support us in this endeavor. Your reputation is impeccable, and we trust that you will advocate for us.
You possess qualities of gentleness and peace, standing out from those who create disturbances. Individuals like you are gifted and uphold strong moral values.
Fubara emphasized his disappointment that the political conflict he viewed as an internal issue remains unresolved, despite his hopes for progress.
The Governor highlighted that despite the unfortunate circumstances, progress has been made under his administration with the establishment of a competent State House of Assembly for legislative responsibilities and the appointment of a skilled lawyer as the Attorney-General.
Today’s developments signify the start of a fresh chapter in our governance, which brings me great satisfaction. My patience stems from the belief that we are all part of a unified family. Even in times of discord, it is crucial to resolve conflicts harmoniously, no matter their severity.
The disagreement has reached a point where an amicable resolution seems impossible. There are clear indications of sabotage and deliberate attempts to undermine the administration.
As a result, we must progress forward without hesitation. Any decisions made will prioritize the well-being of the people of Rivers, even if it means causing harm to certain individuals.
Fubara criticized former Attorney-General Prof. Zaccheaus Adangor for sabotaging the administration he once served.
“It is good that you were already a SAN before your appointment. This means that you’re a very thorough lawyer and has earned your appointment. Not like the one we had here, who while in office, they went to pay money to get SAN. When you become a SAN, the only thing you will do is to sabotage government.
“Instead of you to close your mouth, you go publicly to claim that you are a learned person. But go publicly to tell people that you were the Chief Law Officer. Chief Law Officer? You were here and you went to stand before a magistrate court. At that time, you didn’t remember that you were a Chief Law Officer, going against the ethics of your job. Like I said, you will get your reward, not in the next world, but in this world.”
The governor also said that God does not make mistakes when He elevates any person to whatever level, and dismissed talks to that effect.
