The summit, themed “National Unity: Bedrock of Nation Building,” is being held at the June 12 Cultural Centre, Kuto, and was convened by Gbajabiamila to foster dialogue and collaboration among former lawmakers from the South.
Among the notable attendees were former Senate President Ken Nnamani; ex-Speaker Yakubu Dogara; former Speaker Patricia Olubunmi Etteh; National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Ajibola Bashiru; and former Senate Leader, Victor Ndoma-Egba.
Also present at the event were Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, and the Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Oludaisi Elemide.
Delivering the opening remarks, National Coordinator of the National Forum of Former Legislators (NFFL), Raphael Nnanna Igbokwe, described the summit as an avenue for reunion, networking, and strategic dialogue on key national issues.
“This summit will once again afford us the opportunity for reunion, networking, and, most importantly, to lend our voices to critical national issues,” Igbokwe stated. “As a body, we are committed to promoting peace, unity, and the entrenchment of democracy in our country.”
He further urged state governments to complement the efforts of the federal government in driving national development and fostering unity across all regions.
