How to Solve Nigeria’s Security Issues: ‘Not Sacking Service Chiefs’ – Ali Ndume
Borno South Senator Ali Ndume has stated that removing Nigeria’s service chiefs will not address the country’s security challenges.
In a statement released on Thursday, the All Progressives Congress (APC) lawmaker accused those calling for the dismissal of the service chiefs of having hidden agendas that are not in the best interest of the current government or the Nigerian people.
“People demanding the removal of the current service chiefs have ulterior motives and do not truly wish well for this administration or the citizens of Nigeria,” Ndume said.
He emphasized that effectively combating terrorism, banditry, and insurgency requires robust support for the military and other security agencies.
Ndume reiterated his call for a proactive “TEAM” approach—Training, Equipment, Ammunition, and Motivation—which he believes is essential to tackling insecurity.
“This combination will significantly help in countering terrorism, banditry, and insurgency,” he added.
The senator further highlighted the urgent need to improve the welfare of soldiers and security operatives, as well as equip them with modern weapons, to bring an end to insecurity in Nigeria.
