Ibadan Kingmakers Install Olakulehin as 43rd Olubadan
In Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, the current Balogun of Ibadanland, High Chief Owolabi Akinloye Olakulehin, has been appointed as the 43rd Olubadan of Ibadanland by the kingmakers. These kingmakers also constitute the members of the Olubadan-in-Council.
Olakulehin’s appointment was confirmed at a meeting held at Mapo Hall on Friday, which commenced at 11:00 am and concluded shortly after 12:00 pm, as per DAILY POST.
The vacancy in the Olubadan stool arose due to the passing of the 42nd title holder, Oba Mahood Olalekan Balogun, the previous month.
The nomination of Olakulehin by the Osi Balogun of Ibadanland, High Chief Lateef Adebimpe, was endorsed by all members present at the meeting, chaired by the Otun Olubadan of Ibadanland, former Oyo State governor, High Chief Rasidi Ladoja.
Among the attendees were other members of the Olubadan-in-Council, namely Osi Olubadan, Eddy Oyewole Foko; Ashipa Olubadan, Abiodun Kola-Daisi; Ekerin Olubadan, Hamidu Ajibade; Ekarun Olubadan, Adebayo Akande; Osi Balogun, Lateef Adebimpe; Ashipa Balogun, Kola Adegbola; Ekerin Balogun, Dada Isioye; and Ekarun Balogun, Abiodun Azeez.
Notably, the Otun Balogun, Tajudeen Ajibola, was absent from the meeting.
Following the ratification, the High Chiefs will forward Olakulehin’s name to the state governor, Seyi Makinde, for official endorsement.
