The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has tracked 1,440 government-funded projects worth over N271 billion across Northern Nigeria under its ongoing constituency and executive project tracking initiative.

Speaking at a press conference on Thursday in Kano, ICPC Chairman Musa Aliyu, SAN, revealed that 767 of these projects are located in the North-West, with a total value of N112 billion, while 673 projects in the North-East accounted for N158 billion.

“Our tracking exercise is delivering real results,” Aliyu stated. “Beyond monitoring the execution of these projects, we have also recovered significant amounts in both cash and assets.”

In the North-West, the Commission recovered N7.269 billion in cash and an additional $1.066 million in foreign currency. In the North-East, N43.335 million was recovered. The ICPC also seized 14 buildings, 25 plots of land, and three farmlands in the North-West region.

Aliyu acknowledged the critical role of the media in promoting accountability in governance.

“We appreciate the efforts of journalists who continue to expose abandoned or substandard projects. Your work helps ensure that public resources serve their intended purpose,” he said.
