Imo Police Boost Security Following IPOB Leader’s Conviction
The Imo State Police Command has strengthened security at key locations across the state, particularly in the capital, to prevent any breakdown of law and order following the conviction of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), by a Federal High Court.
Acting on directives from the State Police Commissioner, Aboki Danjuma, the Command has implemented enhanced security measures across all three senatorial districts.
In a press statement, Command spokesperson DSP Henry Okoye said the move is a proactive measure to deter criminal activity, safeguard residents, and ensure public safety. Okoye noted that, in collaboration with sister security agencies, the police have intensified patrols, conducted intelligence-led raids on suspected criminal hideouts, and deployed a visible show of force across the state.
Personnel have also been strategically positioned to protect critical government facilities and public infrastructure while allowing law-abiding residents to go about their daily activities without hindrance.
“The Command warns that anyone engaging in acts capable of disrupting public peace will be arrested and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law,” Okoye said.
He added that CP Danjuma remains committed, in partnership with other security agencies, to protecting lives and property and maintaining peace throughout Imo State. Residents were urged to remain calm, cooperate with security personnel, and report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station or via 0803 477 3600.
