Impending Fuel Scarcity in Nigeria as NUPENG Gears Up for Indefinite Strike Over Minimum Wage
NUPENG Instructs Members to Adhere to Nationwide Strike Call by Organised Labour
The Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) has instructed its members to fully comply with the indefinite nationwide strike ordered by Organised Labour, scheduled to begin on Monday.
NUPENG’s General Secretary, Mr. Afolabi Olawale, emphasized the union’s commitment to ensuring complete compliance with the directive. The strike, declared by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the
Trade Union Congress (TUC), aims to express workers’ dissatisfaction with the Federal Government’s refusal to implement the proposed new minimum wage. Afolabi expressed concern over the government’s insensitivity towards negotiating a new minimum wage, given the socio-economic policies that have adversely affected Nigerian workers.
NUPENG leaders at all levels have been urged to promptly implement measures to ensure full compliance with the directive.
