The Emir of Hadejia, Alhaji Dr. Adamu Abubakar Maje, has warned newly appointed Imams and their deputies to refrain from involving themselves in judicial issues, stressing that such matters should be referred to the appropriate authorities.

The Emir gave the counsel during a ceremony at his palace, where he appointed eleven Juma’at Mosque Imams and five Deputy Imams across the Hadejia Emirate.

He reminded the clerics that their primary duty is to provide spiritual guidance, uphold religious values, and serve as moral leaders within their communities. Alhaji Maje emphasized that actions undermining their integrity or the dignity of their offices must be avoided.

The Emir also highlighted the importance of discipline, unity, and exemplary conduct, noting that religious leaders play a vital role in shaping community behavior. He encouraged the Imams to work closely with their deputies and continually seek knowledge to deepen their understanding of religious matters.

“Maintaining harmony and mutual respect within the clerical structure is essential for the progress of the Emirate,” he said.

During the ceremony, the Chief Imam of the Emirate, Sheikh Dr. Yusuf Abdurrahman, presented the newly appointed Imams and Deputy Imams with their certificates issued by the Emirate Council. The appointments followed a rigorous screening process at both district and Emirate levels to ensure that only qualified candidates were selected to lead Juma’at mosques across Hadejia.
