Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has approved the release of an extra ₦6 billion to settle unpaid retirement benefits, including gratuities and death benefits owed to retired civil servants and the families of deceased workers.

The governor’s Special Adviser on Information, Ibrahim Adam, revealed this update on Tuesday via a post on his verified Facebook page.

Adam explained that the latest payment is part of Governor Yusuf’s ongoing efforts to clear the backlog of pension liabilities inherited from the previous administration under Abdullahi Umar Ganduje. “This payment adds to the ₦21 billion already disbursed towards settling gratuity and death benefit obligations totaling ₦48.6 billion,” he said.
